Watering microgreens is an important skill to learn. Don't worry, with enough practice, you can master the art of watering.
Remember to bottom water the microgreens once introduced to light, in order to prevent leaf rot.
Microgreens are ideally harvested 4 to 8 hours after the last watering, to ensure the leaves and stems are dry.
If harvested dry and kept in an airtight container, it will last 1 to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
Microgreens are generally eaten raw or only lightly cooked. When eaten raw and freshly harvested, you maximize the nutrient content of the greens.
You can add them as toppings on any dish, mix with your salads, put in between your salads or add them to your smoothies. They have a delicate taste and will not overpower your main ingredients, unless you are using microherbs like basil or arugula.
I feed my son microgreens everyday, so I am happy to share with you our basic recipe for microgreens -- omelette.

Microgreens are young vegetables that are harvested within 7 to 14 days, just after the cotyledons have developed. They are full of vitamins and minerals, with 4 – 40x more nutrients than their mature versions. Because they are still young, their nutrients are easily absorbed by our bodies. To take advantage of their nutrients, they are generally eaten raw. You can add them to any dish, sandwich or blend them in your smoothie.
Sprouts are younger than microgreens, only 3 to 6 days old, and are generally eaten with the roots included. Microgreens are harvested longer than sprouts, from 7 to 14 days, and roots are discarded / removed prior to eating.
Sprouts are normally grown in sprouting jars or trays, while microgreens are grown in a growing medium like coco coir or soil.
Microgreens are harvested at such a young age that they still don't have the ability to grow back. Don't worry, you can purchase seed and coco coir refills on our store.
You can, if you can remove the roots from the first batch and sterilize it by drying in the sun or baking in the oven. However, many find these too tedious. You can purchase coco coir refills on our store. Our coco coir is from a farm in Carmen, Cebu, to ensure that they are freshly grounded and not laying under rain for a long time, which can often lead to molds. You may repurpose the discarded coco coir by putting it on your other plants at home.
Not necessarily, all the nutrition is already inside the seeds, which is everything microgreens need to grow for 2 weeks, before being harvested. If you are growing varieties for more than 2 weeks, you can use the organic seaweed serum that we offer in our store.
